A Draw full of Surprises........

I have been on a mission today to have a good tidy up and clear out in my home. Its not been done for a while and you know that feeling when you wake up and you have a real need to clean and tidy ( okay so that doesn't happen often, ) I think it has something to do with my parents new build house that they have recently moved into. With its perfect corners and smooth freshly painted walls, new lights and fitting, I always have a pang of jealousy after visiting.

Anyway after hoovering and washing and putting away various objects and paperwork I decided to sit for a bit and have a cuppa. And whilst supping away I pulled open the Draw on my coffee table.  Hands up who has a coffee table with a draw........and when was the last time you clean it out? Well I can't remember so it is at least 5/6 years. And so in amongst the packets of Batteries, the takeaway menus and the hand creams I came across my Cross Stitch stuff. This is where I started almost 10 years ago when I was pregnant with Harry.

This is an unfinished unicorn that was intended for a cushion........

And these are bookmarks waiting to be finished.
These are the pieces that did get finished and framed and are hanging in my Bathroom.

I no longer do Cross stitch but having found a selection of unfinished pictures I may have a little dabble now and then.
After a year or so of doing this I began to look into other things I could do to fill my time and so began my fabric obsession. I started to buy bedding to cut up and make Rag rugs with and from Rag rugs I moved onto Quilts. I will in the next few days get out some of the rugs that I still have and share them with you .

Thank you for listening to me waffle on and hope you will check in soon for some more ....... Sam xx

  1. Hi Sam, a blog, great! Definitely struck a note with me, I have so many unfinished projects around the house and at the moment I am sitting here looking at 4 boxes from Merchant Chandler full of clothes that I have made and then not liked and put away to re make. The fabric stash is another story altogether, and you know what, I am going to London on Saturday to buy guess what! yet more fabric. I think I am an addict. Hey ho.

    1. I think there is an epidemic of people out there with piles of unfinished projects. I hope you have a great time in London and find some gorgeous fabric!!!!
