Triangles, love them or hate them.

My first love when it comes to sewing has and always will be making a Quilts, there is something quite satisfying about cutting up fabric into lots of different shapes and then piecing it together to make something new and beautiful.  Of coarse when I first started making quilts I was rubbish at it, I didn't plan, I didn't iron, I didn't take care with seams or measurement and so consiquently the final results were disappointing and somewhat frustrating.

But with time and practise comes experience and knowledge, I know now how important it is to be absolutely accurate with measurements and planning. If you just cut out a load of shapes and try to sew them together it will result in a quilt but will your corners meet up and edges match??
Taking time to iron open the seams at each stage of the piecing will make a massive difference to your ability to match corners neatly. And trust me you cannot help but grin like a cheshire cat when you turn the section over to see all your corners meeting at their points.
There is nothing more testing than piecing together 'Triangles ' even with all the care and attention to detail you will always have some corners that won't match despite unpicking and re sewing.
But I can honestly say that despite all the swearing and hours spend unpicking and re sewing that I am really pleased with how this quilt top is going.
There is still along way to go before its complete and whether I will be able to part with it I'm not sure, but I am truely pleased with how this one is progressing.
And so I look forward to showing you the next stage of layering and quilting. I am not sure I will be making another quilt with Triangles however !!!
